A wound that has been sutured (sårbehandling)

For patients

A wound that has been sutured in the Accident and Emergency and should be treated in the following way:

The wound/dressing should be kept clean and dry.

24 hours after the wound has been sutured, you may bathe and wash your hair without a surgical dressing.

The wound must be thoroughly dried before applying a new surgical dressing.

The sutures should be removed by your own doctor on _____ days.

If the wound becomes infected, or if you have other problems concerning your wound, please contact your doctor.

Infection signs

  • Pain (throbbing) can occur after a few days.
  • Warm and tender around the wound, perhaps becoming red and inflammed extending out from the wound.
  • Fever.
  • Wound that smell or excessive secrection from the wound.
